YMCA annual regional youth & women assembly held

Delegates from various YMCAs of the Northeast region with delegates from Dimapur at the three-day YMCA programme held at Livingstone Foundation International, Dimapur on November 15.

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 18 (MExN): The three-day YMCA North East India Region Annual Regional Youth & Women Assembly Program under the National Council of YMCAs of India was held at Livingstone Foundation International, Dimapur from November 15.

P Sam Robert, National Secretary, Youth Empowerment, Women/Gender, Sports/Physical Recreation and Health & Healthy Living, NCYI was the Chief Guest. The program was hosted by Dimapur YMCA and YMCA North East India Region under the theme ‘North East India – Challenges & Opportunities.’

The program was attended by delegates from various YMCAs of the North Eastern Region including Aizawl from Mizoram and Shillong & Nongtalang from Meghalaya along with a host of delegates from Dimapur YMCA.

The inaugural function opened with prayer & devotion session which was led by Shamir Thabah, Secretary, Shillong YMCA followed by welcome address by Joben Roy Myrboh, Regional Chairman, YMCANEIR. This was followed by the Chief Guest’s address and the key note address by the President, Dimapur YMCA, Dr Andrew Ahoto who is also the Chairman of Livingstone Foundation International, the host school.

The other dignitaries present during the occasion included MR Brooks, Hony Regional Treasurer, YMCANEIR; Allan Benjamin, Secretary, World Vision based in Chennai; Joe RZ Thanga, Joint Secretary, Aizawl YMCA; Fourstar Rymbai, Secretary, Nongtalang YMCA; and Joydeep Rayan Raychowdhury, Regional Secretary, YMCANEIR. Vernon Fernandez from Dimapur, YMCA was the Organizing Secretary of the program.

The highlights of the three-day program included Business Sessions of YMCANEIR, Election Proceedings of Women Chairperson and Youth Chairperson, induction of newly elected women and youth chairpersons by National Council Secretary, sessions on youth empowerment and program theme, business session of the Regional Executive Committee and cultural items presented by the different delegates from various YMCAs.
