Yorubami Students Union general session ends

Kohima, January 2 (MExN): The Yorubami Students Union (YSU) held its 63rd general session with the theme ‘Empowering excellence’ at Yoruba under Phek district on December 28 to 29 last.


The guest speaker for the inaugural session was Tucuno Vamuzo, Chief Judicial Magistrate Longleng, while Vezalhü Chakhesang, ex president YSU and KCSU as the session speaker, Dzüvichüno Banuo Veswüh, Principal Royal Academy Higher Secondary School, Itanagar graced the valedictory function in the two day event.


Speaking on the occasion, the guest speaker spoke on the importance of preserving one's identity and culture. She emphasized on the importance of dignity of labour and challenged the students to take pride in working and earning. Tucuno further encouraged the student body to guide and teach the younger generation.


The programme was attended by host of dignitaries, church leaders, elders, president CSU and his colleagues.


Vezalhü shared a brief history on origin of the Nagas and also spoke on the importance of sanitation and cleanliness in the village.


The second day marked the literary day including of students participating in various competitions such as quiz, essay writing competition, extempore speech, debate, drawing and painting competition.


The program concluded with valedictory session in the evening where meritorious students were felicitated during the occasion.
