Young Naga innovators from six Government Polytechnics of Nagaland displayed their creative innovations and projects at the ongoing 1st TechFest Nagaland 2019 on the theme “NagaTech- Redefining Ideas” under the aegis of Directorate of Technical Education, Nagaland at Indira Gandhi Stadium Kohima and Government Polytechnic Kohima.


The department of Automobile engineering from Khelhoshe Polytechnic Atoizu presented a model on “Electric car” to solve the problem of pollution (Eco Friendly car) and also an alternative to limited resources of natural oil and gas.

 


It also presented a model of “Smart city” to exhibit the core infrastructure element of a smart city with emphasis on the challenges encountered in funding and finding the right person to run the various programmes.


Civil Engineering department of Government Polytechnic Kohima presented a project on “Structural reinforcement” while detailing of a single-storied residential building.


This project aim to calculate the total qualities of reinforcement required for any structure and to practically execute laying of reinforcements at site.


The department of computer science and engineering from Government Polytechnic Kohima presented a model on “Sun tracking Solar UPS” to absorb maximum solar energy and generate greater amount of electricity.


The department of civil engineering from Government Polytechnic Seithekema, Dimapur presented a project on “Road Safety” to prevent accident in hilly roads.


The Electrical & Electronic Engineering department of Government Polytechnic Tsunazho, Phek presented a model on “Van De Graff Generator” and demonstrated the concept of electrostatic.

The department of fashion technology Government Polytechnic Kohima presented a model “Reimagine Nature” focussing on reducing reuse recycle and to beat plastic pollution by replacing biodegradable products.


The Institute of Communication & Information Technology Mokokchung presented a project on “Low Cost Earthquake Alarm System.”  The project aim to develop a low cost alarm system at the onset of seismic tremor.


The project stated that earthquakes are usually caused when rock underground suddenly breaks along a fault. This sudden release of energy causes the seismic waves that make the ground shake.

The earthquake zoning map of India divides India into four seismic zones. According to the present zoning map, Zone V expects the highest level of seismicity whereas zone-II is associated with the lowest level of seismicity.


Other projects on display at the ongoing Tech Fest Nagaland include modern office practice, management of piggery farm etc.


The TechFest will conclude today with NEPeD chairman Kevechutso Doulo as special guest.
