Youths get career guidance at seminar in Dimapur

Dimapur, August 2 (MExN): The Deputy Commissioner of Dimapur, Kesonyü Yhome on Tuesday maintained that the present generation of youth should keep themselves well updated with the latest phenomena of the world like climate change, political scenario, development etc.  

He was speaking on the topic ‘Career guidance on competitive exam’ at a one day seminar jointly organized by Kudawhi Union Dimapur (KUD) and Kuda Kewhimia Youth Organization (KKYO) at Development Association of Nagaland (DAN) Hall in Diphupar here on August 1.  

Kesonyü further stated that a civil service aspirant should stop the blame game of accusing/ alleging of malpractices or manipulation by various authorities. He stated that no matter how defective the mechanism may be, the best of the best candidate cannot be daunted, according to a press release from Media Cell, KUD. He further encouraged the youth to develop writing skills, which he said reflect one’s personality and build self confidence to take wise decision in building their career.  

Dr. Reyosalu Lase, Senior Dental Specialist & Nodal Officer, NTCP Phek, who spoke on the topic ‘Harmful effect of tobacco,’ noted that Nagas top the list in the country in consuming smokeless tobacco.  

Sharing the hazardous effect of tobacco on human, she said tobacco is an addictive substance which commonly affects the heart, liver, lung etc of all ages. She pointed out that 7 million people die of cancer annually, out of which, 40% are related to tobacco.  

With 57% of the Naga population consuming tobacco in different ways, Dr. Reyosalu called upon the youth to stay away from destroying one’s own body, develop health consciousness as well as disseminate awareness on the hazardous effect of tobacco in every possible way so as to build a better future.  

K. Martin Pienyü, DIGP (training and border), who also spoke on the topic ‘Career in Police,’ shared the structure of the police department. Policing is a service where one has to sacrifice everything even to the extent of one’s own lives; therefore, discipline of the uniformed persons is highly respected, he asserted. He also briefed the youth on the selection and induction process in the police department.  

Coinciding with the seminar, Kuda Kewhimia Youth Organization was also formally launched by KUD advisor Charlie Sekhose. He also unveiled the logo of KUD. He blessed the KKYO and called on the youth to be sincere, honest and be torchbearers for the society.
