ZPO responds to Sept 13 resolution for dissolution of its body

DIMAPUR, SEPTEMBER 17 (MExN): The Zeliang People’s Organization (ZPO) under the president-ship of Ramdi Meru and general secretary Kiepeube Zehuny has issued a rejoinder to the statement issued by session chairman Dr Tumda Newme and session secretary Khenglubo on the general convention of Zeliang people dissolving the parallel ZPOs to pave way for constitution of a unified apex body.

A press from the ZPO termed the September 13 gathering at Jalukie town as “nothing more than unethical.” It claimed that the ZPO is a principled and mandated apex organisation of the Zeliang Tribe of Nagaland which has been representing its people in all manner and given recognition by all tribes and by the Government of Nagaland.

It asserted that the rights of the ZPO for the welfare of the Zeliang people is "absolute and therefore neither challengeable nor negotiable.” It termed the Zeme Council and Liangmai Council as "delusional" for meddling in ZPO affairs and said that the act of  dissolution is "the pinnacle of absurdity…”

The ZPO cautioned that “any further confusion created by vested interests" would necessitate legal notice.
