The programme was conducted in order to sensitize and create awareness and educate the people on various health issues and to bridge the gap between the beneficiaries to boost their health seeking behavior. It was implemented with a view to reach the grassroots levels in the villages.

As per a press release from Shekho Sophie, District Media Officer, Chief Medical Officer, Office Zunheboto ASHAs and AWWs in the villages have been mobilizing the mothers to send pregnant women to health units for institutional delivery, however most of them opt for home delivery because of road not easily accessible and financial constraints, said the release.

During the discussion, participants spoke about how public health programmes are meeting the needs of mothers and children. The IEC team conducted pre and post test on each topic during each session to assess their knowledge and awareness levels. Free leaflets and pamphlets were distributed during the discussion, where a total of 139 participants took part.
