Zunheboto, September 21 (MExN): Zunheboto district held its 1st District Tuberculosis Forum meeting at Deputy Commissioner’s Chamber under the chairmanship of Shanavas C IAS, Deputy Commissioner, Zunheboto and Chairman of District TB Forum on September 12.
During the meeting, Shanavas said that keeping a high awareness is the key to have a successful campaign to the fight against Tuberculosis, informed a press release issued by Shekho Sophie, District Media Officer, CMO Office Zunheboto.
Stating that TB still remains one most formidable global health challenges, he emphasized that the goal of the campaign should be boosting awareness on the disease by conveying the message, “diagnose it sooner, and treat it - better, and earlier,” the release added.
Earlier, the attendees were welcomed by Dr CW Tungoe, CMO Zunheboto while Dr G Viholi Sema, DTO Zunheboto gave a PowerPoint presentation on activities of RNTCP Zunheboto. She also highlighted the goals and objectives of District TB Forum. Anatoli, STS, Zunheboto further gave a presentation on the services/facilities available under RNTCP.
Short testimonies were given by TB patients (cured/relatives of TB), the release informed, adding that the patients as well as the family members also expressed satisfaction with the free drugs and services extended by District Tuberculosis Centre. It ended with Vote of thanks was delivered by Dr Akaho Senior Specialist DH, Zunheboto.
