Zunheboto observes World Population Day

Zunheboto, July 12 (MExN): District Health Society, Zunheboto observed World Population Day under the theme ‘Start a Meaningful Tomorrow with Family Planning’ at CMO Office Zunheboto on July 11.  

Dr. Alemwabang Aier, DPO (RCH &UIP), Zunheboto as the resource person highlighted on the significance of the day. Dr. Wabang emphasized that Family planning is important for the health of a mother and her children, as well as the family's economic situation. Since parents are responsible for providing education, shelter, clothing and food for their children, family planning has an important long-term impact on the financial situation of any family He shared a PowerPoint presentation and highlighted about the performance of the blocks and also the activities to be carried out.  

It was preceded by a ‘Mobilization Fortnight’ from June 27 to July 10 for creating awareness on Population control and generating demand for Family Planning, he added.  

He also highlighted that during the Population Stabilization fortnight from July 11-24 various FP methods will be carried out, free services like sterilisation, IUCD and distribution of condoms, ECP, OCP, counseling and free distribution of IEC materials and activities will be carried out in all the health units and villages.  

Free IEC materials were distributed during the observance. The programme was attended by CMO staffs, DH staffs, stakeholders, students and medical fraternity from the blocks Vitoli, DPM, chaired the programme. Dr. Hoito Sema, Dy CMO gave the welcome address.
