10 schools declared tobacco free in Zunheboto

Zunheboto, November 28 (MExN): District Tobacco Control Cell (DTCC), Zunheboto held its district level co-ordination committee meeting at DC conference hall on November 27. The meeting was chaired by DC, Zunheboto Peter Lichamo.


Dr Esther Chophy Ngullie, Dental surgeon, DH, Zunheboto highlighted about the activities carried out in the district. She said that so far DTCC has carried out awareness programme in 14 schools covering 2255 students, community awareness in five churches, two training on tobacco awareness and COTPA 2003 and one enforcement drive in the month of November.


A press release from District Media Officer, CMO office Zunheboto stated that during the meeting, 10 schools in Zunheboto were declared as tobacco free schools and certificates were given by the DC.  Dr Vihuto Assumi, Principal, Immanuel Higher Secondary School spoke on behalf of the tobacco free schools. Vote of thanks was given by Dr K Akaho Sema, Deputy CMO and Nodal officer NTCP.


The meeting was attended by the DC, Superintendent of Police, Deputy CMO, Principal, Government College, Church leaders, ZTYO, ANPSA members, Dental Surgeon, DH and NTCP staff.
