Dimapur, December 30(MExN): The 11th Boscoree with theme “Peace on Earth” was inaugurated today at Don Bosco Higher Secondary School with Brigadier Devinder Singh, Brigadier Artillery as the chief guest and Rev. Father James Poonthuril SDB, Provincial, Salesian Province of Dimapur as chief host.
A five days camping (December 29, 2010- January 2, 2011) for Boscouts and guides is being held at the Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Dimapur where scouts and guides from all over the country are gathered and have come together to participate in various fields and take part in the 11th Boscoree celebration. Around 60 schools from 18 states have come to take part in the 11th Boscoree Camping. Altogether 1223 Scouts, 780 Guides, 103 Scout Masters, 59 Guide Captains and 75 Camp officials are participating in the occasion.
Chief guest Brigadier Devinder Singh, Brigadier Artillery in his speech stated that the people occupying responsible positions in society are those who have excelled in various areas of life and those who have set themselves seriously to the task of education while people roaming aimlessly in the streets of our country are the ones who abandoned training and education. He also stated that the trees that are growing tall and strong today are those which have been cared for and directed well when they were little saplings. He encouraged the scouts and guides by quoting Lord Baden Powell’s quote, Founder of scout movement ‘try to leave this world a little better than you found it’ and that if this is done by all the scouts seriously and systematically this world will surely be a greener, cleaner and happier place to live in.
Father P. X. Francis, Chief of Boscoree in an interview stated that Boscoree Camping is held once in every four years and that the place of camping is selected by the National team of South Asia. He also stated that some states did not show up thinking of North East to be a place without peace and fearing of the extremists groups but the participants who are here are completely safe and out of danger and having a fine time in Dimapur Nagaland. He expressed that through this camping the scouts and guides will get to know each other and will take part in different activities like pioneering projects, cultural activities, quizzes and physical education where the scouts’ mind, body and soul will be spiritually trained.
