1st Nagaland Olympics from today

Opening ceremony held at the DDSC Stadium

A total of 1380 participants are all set to begin competing at the first ever Nagaland Olympics organised by the Nagaland Olympic Association (NOA). The prelude – opening ceremony was held at the DDSC Stadium, Dimapur on December 12 with the Governor PB Acharya declaring the event open. The Governor also released a souvenir commemorating the conduct of the first such competitive event in the state.  

The ceremony also had three special guests - Olympian Chekrovolu Swuro; Lanu Toy, founding president of the NOA and whose father was Dr. T. Ao, the first Naga Olympian and Dr. T. Ao’s granddaughter Ningdangnaro.  

With competitors from all the 11 districts, the weeklong competition will be held in four venues spread across Dimapur. Competitive events are scheduled to begin at 9:00 am Wednesday at the NAPTC complex, Niathu Resort, Tetso College and Kuda Tennis Stadium.  

The Nagaland Olympics will feature a range of competitive Olympic sports from athletics, boxing, football, volleyball, tennis etc. It will conclude on December 19.
