34 colleges in process of assessment
Kohima, June 15 (MExN): Under National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) purview there are 69 colleges in Nagaland viz 15-Government and 54-Private colleges NAAC has accredited 35 colleges, out of which 13 are Government colleges and 22 are Private.
The remaining 34 non-accredited colleges are in the process of NAAC assessment, stated an update from DIPR.
NAAC is a Government organisation in India that assesses and accredits higher education institutions to derive an understanding of the ‘Quality’ status of the Institute. It is an autonomous body funded by the University Grant Commission and headquartered in Bangalore. “NAAC has played a significant role in the growth and development of Higher Education in India. Its efforts have led to the improvement of the quality of education in the country and it continues to work towards promoting excellence in higher education institution,” it stated.
