Zunheboto and Niuland secures win

CHÜMOUKEDIMA, MARCH 26 (MExN): With a robust 246 runs at 8 wickets down besides an inclement weather playing spoil sports, Zunheboto on Tuesday won the first match against Chümoukedima by 38 runs on a DLS at the 4th Late G Rio Memorial Men’s U-19 Inter-District Tournament 2024.  Zunheboto, after losing the toss and asked to bat first, managed to get to a good total of 246 runs losing 8 wickets. Raja’s unbeaten 106 runs was the highlight of Zunheboto’s innings.  For Chümoukedima, Aloto Sumi was the pick of the bowlers as he scalped 4 wickets. Bendangwapang got 2 wickets while Akesho Jishing and Ronald Yanthan took a wicket each. Chümoukedima innings got off to a good start however quick fall of wickets at the middle left them struggling at 74/5 (22.3 overs) when the match was interrupted by rain. 

In the other match between Wokha and Niuland which was played at Sovima Cricket Ground, Niuland won by 5 wickets. Wokha after having won the toss and opting to bat first were bundled out for a mere 75 runs (29.2 overs). Liren 15 runs, Mharen 11 runs and Pothungo 12 runs were the only players to score a double figure. Sujit Kumar, Rohan and Pawan took 2 wickets each while Kumar, Jatin, Darah and Vikash got a wicket each. In the run chase, Niuland reached the target in just 18.2 overs losing 5 wickets. Kumar 30* runs was the top scorer from Niuland side. Meribemo with 3 wickets was the picked bowler for Wokha side.
