Phek, September 7 (MExN): The Pochury Students’ Union (PSU) along with other Pochury frontal organisations observed the 61st anniversary of Pochury Black Day at Matikhrü village under Phek district on September 6. 

The programme was led by Nguchuvi, Advisor Matikhrü Students’ Union, Rhovitho, Pastor of Matikhrü Baptist Church said the invocation and welcome address was delivered by Kuorho Pojar, Head GB, Matikhrü, stated a press release. 

PSU President, Müphatho Nyuthe, in his address emphasized, “Matikhrü massacre should be acknowledged by every Nagas since it is a supreme sacrifice done in the history of the Naga cause.” Stating that Naga society is fragmented, Nyuthe called upon every Naga to come as one and added, “Without it our struggle for freedom will turn futile and barely implant hope on the hearts of every individual for Naga solution.”

Two living witnesses Resipa and Rev Zhihuotho shared their experiences. Solidarity messages were given by Chonpa Jurry, President, Pochury Hoho and Tsürhotshü, President, Pochury Mothers' Association, vote of thanks was delivered by Jakob Thuu, Assembly Speaker, PSU, benediction was pronounced by Tosietho Katiry, Head Deacon, Matikhrü Baptist Church followed by lying of wreaths by the officials present.
