ACVA clarifies stand on non local commercial vehicles in Wokha

Wokha, October 6 (MExN): The All Commercial Vehicle Association (ACVA), Wokha District, has clarified that its demand is not aimed at restricting interstate vehicles or obstructing interstate trade and commerce, but at seeking a fair opportunity for local commercial vehicle operators.

In a public clarification issued on October 6, the ACVA said its position had been “misrepresented before various authorities, organisations and the public”, creating an impression that it was seeking to restrict interstate vehicles or obstruct interstate trade and commerce.  “This is not the case,” the association stated.

The ACVA said it was appealing to “outsiders/non-local commercial vehicle operators” who are residing and conducting business in Wokha District to consider giving local entrepreneurs an opportunity to ply commercial vehicles within the district. “This appeal is made in the spirit of mutual understanding, coexistence and creating opportunities for our younger generation,” it stated.

The association clarified that it “does not oppose lawful interstate vehicles passing through Wokha District” and “does not seek to obstruct lawful interstate trade and commerce.” It also stated that it “does not advocate unlawful blockades, intimidation, forced stoppage or harassment of any vehicle or driver.”

According to the ACVA, its concern is specifically with “outside/non-local commercial activities being conducted within Wokha District”, particularly where such activities may affect legitimate local entrepreneurs or where compliance with applicable laws and regulations requires examination.

The association further clarified that it was not seeking to exercise governmental powers. It added that it was asking competent authorities “to examine the matter according to law and ensure that the same legal and regulatory requirements are applied fairly and uniformly to all concerned.”

The ACVA said it sought “a lawful, fair and transparent framework” that would protect legitimate local economic opportunities while allowing lawful interstate movement and commerce to continue.  “This is not an anti-outsider or anti-interstate campaign. It is a genuine appeal for mutual understanding, fair opportunity and lawful regulation,” the association stated.

It appealed to Lotha frontal organisations, civil society organisations, authorities and the public not to be misled by representations that it said distorted its position, urging them to consider its original communication and its substance.
