ACYA SFS observes Youth Day

Kohima, January 27 (MExN): The Angami Catholic Youth Association, St Francis de Sales (ACYA SFS) celebrated its 38th Youth Day at the campus of Savio KG School on January 27 in Kohima .


In a press release from Max Marius Khieya, ACYA SFS member, Daniel Belho, Keneilhounyii Daniel Belho, Advisor, ACYA SFS exhorted the gathering.


Stating that the history of Catholic Church began with Jesus Christ, Belho urged the youth parishioners to get back to the roots of the Church and learn more about its history and doctrines.


Belho also reminded the congregation that in any Catholic church, every parishioner is treated with equal dignity. He advised the youth parishioners to make use of their time to learn more about Catholic teachings in order to share its beliefs with others.


Stressing on the importance of active involvement in the church, the advisor asked the young believers to contribute their services to their parish. While referring to the work and different activities of ACYA, Belho encouraged the youth leaders and assured that the result of every struggle in the beginning is always sweet in the end. He cited an example of how 18,00,255 lakhs of honey bees could fly many miles and face four to five million of other bees to produce about 400.50 grams of honey.


Asking the youth to act as a candle that light up another candle, Belho further called upon the youths to be the lights of their church.


Meanwhile, Rev Richard Fernandes, Spiritual Advisor, ACYA SFS pronounced the invocation while Kekhriengunuo Teresa read from the Scripture.


Special numbers were presented by former ACYA SFS, Executive, Elizabeth Sorhie and Bernadette Dziivichii while ACWA SFS presented a dance performance.


A short felicitation program was held wherein outgoing president Seyiekhrielie Carlus handed over the Constitution to the new ACYA SFS President, Paul Belho .


The new ACYA SFS office bearers for the tenure 2019 - 20 were introduced. Mary Meyase was conferred with "Youth of the Year Award " during the felicitation.


Including NPSC successful candidates from the parish, ACYA members were also felicitated with awards for their academic excellence and services to the Church. Prior to the Youth Day programme, the Eucharistic celebration was held at SFS parish. Youth members from Mary Help of Christians Cathedral and St Chong Hasang Parish in Kohima attended the Youth Day celebration.
