The handing over and induction of the Angami Sports Association (ASA)  new office bearers for the tenure 2024-2028 took place today at Angami Morung, Kisama.

Outgoing ASA President Er Lhoubeizo Kesiyie highlighted some achievements of ASA tenure 2020-2024.

He said that ASA played a key role and facilitated the formation of Chang Sports Association during inauguration of Astroturf ground at Tuensang, and held friendly football match between ASA and Chang Sports Association in 2022. In 2023, ASA sent its four coaches to Meluri for training the Pochury youths in Naga style Wrestling. 

ASA successfully conducted the 50th ASA Meet in Feb 2022 which was a weeklong event featuring Wrestling, games and athletics.

He informed that ASA brought in 1 coach and 2   wrestlers from Kyrgyzstan for conducting Referee Clinic and coaching of ASA youths in Belt Wrestling. The 2 Kyrgyzs wrestlers also participated in the International Hornbill Wrestling 2023 and Kadyr Kelsinbekov emerged as the Champion, who was the first foreigner to win a Naga Wrestling Championship in the history of Nagaland. 

He congratulated the new ASA office bearers for the tenure 2024-2028 led by Ruokuovikho Chale and wished the new team the very best in their future endeavours. Neisiesa Chusi, convenor nomination committee and new President Ruokuovikho Chale also spoke at the programme. 

The programme was led by ASA ongoing general secretary Seyielhouvi Nagi while Wrestling Secretary Visakrol Vitsu pronounced prayer. Vote of thanks was proposed by ASA outgoing vice president (Organization) Viketouzo Meyase.
