ANPWDFWA warns PWD Dept of strike

Kohima, August 31 (MExN): The All Nagaland PWD Field Workers’ Association PWD (R&B)/Housing & NH has warned that it will go on a strike if the PWD Department does not implement the 67% reservation for work-charged (W/C) employees “in letter and spirit”.

The association in a memorandum to the Commissioner & Secretary, Works & Housing Department, claimed that many fresh appointments had been made from the 67% quota which is meant for senior most genuine W/C employees as per office memorandum No. AR -3/Gen-201/2009, directive order of the Guwahati High Court and recent order from the P &AR (AR Branch) for regularization of W/C employees vide order No. AR-3/Gen-67/201/ 2009 Dt. Kma, the 17th March’ 2015.

The ANPWDFWA stated that W/C employees have been sincerely serving the department for many years. “However, there has been no concern for us by the department especially for the W/C employees and we are being deprived of being regularized despite many vacancies arising out of retirement,” the association rued.

“The resulting vacancies in the department are always occupied by the fresh appointee depriving the genuine W/C employees who have served the department for many years with just a wager wages,” it added. Asserting that they had made enough appeals on the matter, the association stated that the department had turned a deaf.

“As the demand for W/C employees was not fulfilled, the entire Division/Sub-Division will go on strike blocking all the existing PWD roads in case the department fails to listen to the wishes of the W/C employees,” the association warned. The department would be solely responsible for any loss or untoward incidents happening during the bandh, it added.
