AR units promote Swachh Bharat Abhiyan

Kohima, September 24 (MExN): Assam Rifles units under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (North) carried out cleanliness drive and awareness programmes in various locations to promote Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.  

Troops of 5 Assam Rifles organised a lecture at Atoizu School in Atoizu, during which, the students were educated about the importance of clean surroundings. It was followed by a joint cleanliness drive at Meyiolong village, informed a press release from Lt Col Amitabh Sharma, PRO, HQ IGAR (North).  

Also, troops of 15 Assam Rifles conducted a joint cleanliness drive at Dan village, where special emphasis was put to clear the area surrounding the village church. The drive was followed by a lecture on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, which was attended by 35 locals and 40 children, the release said.  

Troops of 40 Assam Rifles conducted a lecture at Government School, Chenloiso, attended by 38 students. Further, troops of 44 Assam Rifles interacted with Ungma Village Council to spread awareness about Swachhta Abhiyan. The interaction was followed by a lecture on cleanliness and hygiene. As a prelude to the interaction, a joint cleanliness drive was carried out at Ungma village by the locals and troops.
