Artists and creators interact

Dimapur, December 30 (MExN): The ‘North East writers and Artists conclave’, a self-sponsored mobile forum initiated by the Holiday Abode for Writers and Artists (HAWA) was held at the HAWA office in Dimapur on December 30, 2011.
Renowned Naga writer and poet, Dr. Temsula Ao encouraged the gathering by saying that looking at the ‘talent’ gathered in the room, she was very proud to be a Naga. Dr. Ao also said that in the field of art and creative writing, Nagas are at par with the world, and that this needs to be maintained, not with a sense of arrogance, but with a sense of confidence.
She also challenged the gathering to show the world that the northeast region is more than just conflict and violence. She challenged the artists and writers to encourage and appreciate each other, to inspire and generate a process of cultural and intellectual exchange.
The forum was attended by a number of writers, poets, artists, musicians, filmmakers, photographers and other creative individuals. In attendance were also bureaucrats such as Hekali Zhimomi, musicians such as Arenla and Moa of rock band Abiogenesis, guitarist of Divine Connection Mhathung Odyuo, musician Tali Angh, London-based artist Temsuyanger Longkumer and Filmmaker Kivini Shohe.
