ASTK students' day cum general conference held

Kohima, October 5 (MExN): Students' day cum general conference 2017 of the Ao Kaketshir Telongjem Kohima (ASTK) was held on October 2 at Molu Ki, Kohima with TN Jamir, IFS, DFO Mokokchung as the main speaker under the theme ‘Self Reliant Student.’

TN Jamir said that health, family, wealth and adaptation to one’s own environment are the basic needs to survive without which the individual and society would perish. Basing on the theme, the DFO said every human live and survive by itself except for some parasite. He lamented that there are many parasites in our present society and cautioned that the Ao students should be aware of such harmful parasites and not to become one of themselves. He said that being able to adapt to the environment we live in and through hard labour can only make a person a leader or a king.

He also added that one cannot only be a Minister, a doctor or an Engineer to be a king but can conquer the world through hard work, honesty and dedication towards their talent and culture.

Exhorting the students, Er Talitoba Sanglir said that the student’s life is like a journey and that each one should assess where they stand to prepare themselves on what they want to be in future. He urged them to have a sense of duty and to become an asset to the society.

Wabang Jamir, IPS, IGP Range Nagaland, exhorted the students to be innovative and change the traditional mindset. Saying that Government Job in the state has reached its saturated point the IGP encouraged the students to venture out from Nagaland and marrow new innovations from other nations to be able to be at par with the rest of the world. He said innovative ideas are inherent in us but we do not promote them. He said our community lack in innovations because there is no economic pressure and therefore survival becomes a problem. He therefore urged the students to improve upon these areas and to become innovative, unique and daring to do different.

During the programme, AKTK Meritorious Awards were given to HSLC toppers for the year 2015-2016. Moamanen HSLC Topper 10th Position from Fern Wood Higher Secondary School and Temjeninla Jamir Top 16th HSLC from NorthField School were the awardees.
