Dimapur, January 16 (MExN): In view of security concern during the scheduled transit journey of the President of India in Dimapur on January 17, the Dimapur Police advised the public to avoid roadside parking along the identified contingency travel routes.
President Droupadi Murmu expected to transit via Dimapur during her visit to Taralangso in Diphu, Assam to attend golden jubilee celebration of Karbi Youth Festival on January 17.
As per the police, the contingency travel routes of the president included Dellai Gate to Dimapur Airport via DC Court Junction/ Notun Bosti Junction/City Tower/Veterinary Junction/ Purana Bazaar Junction/ Padampukhuri Junction/ TK Service Junction/ Airport Junction.
The other route is Veterinary Junction to District Hospital Dimapur via Walford/ Super Market/ Nagarjan Junction.
The Airport to Police House, Chümoukedima via Green Park Junction/ Sovima Village Gate Junction/DC Chümoukedima Junction/ RP Gate No. 2/ GP Gate No.1 is also designated as a contingency route, besides Central Jail, 4th Mile Junction to CIHSR Hospital.
It is s advised that roadside parking along the contingency travel routes be avoided from 11 AM to 2PM of January 17, stated a traffic advisory issued by the Commissioner of Police Dimapur Kevithuto Sophie.
On Monday, the Dimapur Police had imposed restrictions on use of any kind of Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA); conduct of any kind of firing practice and bursting of any kind of firecrackers in view of the scheduled transit journey on January 17 from 6am to 6pm within Dimapur and Chümoukedima districts.
