Mon | February 27 : Additional Chief Secretary of Nagaland, Banuo Z Jamir called on the people of Mon to send their children to schools and avail free education, further exhorting them not to deny education to a girl child and thus remove all gender disparity. Banuo was addressing a public meeting at Mopong EAC Headquarter on 25th February 2011 during her visit to Mon district.
Speaking to the Village Council Chairmen, DBs, GBs and other civil societies of the region, the Additional Chief Secretary said that the purpose of her visit was to see the ground reality of how various Government Schemes was being implemented in the grass root level and to redress the grievances of the people.
Addressing, she said that the purpose of her visit is to see the ground reality of how various Government Schemes is implementing in the grass root level and to redress the grievances of the people. Asserting that Mopong EAC Hq. has been selected as a venue for the meeting, she said Mopong is one of the most remote EAC Headquarter in Mon district and added that the purpose of having meeting with the District officers is to see the ground reality and the suffering of the people in this remote area. She said that all flagship programmes of the Government were being dispersed equally, touching to all sections of the people in the state and she stated that both the Government and the people are equally responsible for successful implementation of these Government schemes.
Banuo also iterated the importance of correct census in the planning process, she appealed to the people to give correct information while explaining how wrong data collections affects the planning and development of the state. Appreciating the construction skills of houses with wood and bamboo, she called upon the people to preserve the excellent artisan inherited from their forefathers for upcoming generation
The Deputy Commissioner, Mon Dinesh Kumar, IAS, in his speech said that majority of the EAC and SDO post in the district like, Mopong, Monyakshu, Angchangyeang, Shangnyu , Chen and longshen is functioning without posting of administrative officers and he requested the Addl. Chief Secretary & Commissioner to look into the matter. He also highlighted the major schemes of the government like the NREGA, Total Sanitation Campaign of the PHED, Free Power connection for the BPL household, NRHM and other communitization programmes of the Government and appeal to the people to avail the opportunity and implement properly for the benefit of the welfare of the people.
