CM & Governor wish CD&HG personnel on Raising Day

Kohima, December 5 (MExN): The Governor and Chief Minister of Nagaland have extended greetings to the personnel of State Civil Defence & Home Guards (CD&HG) as they celebrate their Raising Day. The CD&HG celebrates Raising Day on December 6.  

In his message, Governor PB Acharya acknowledged that the Nagaland Civil Defence and Home Guard has been doing a commendable job in rendering yeomen service to the people. “I am sure that the organization is playing a great role in assisting the security personnel of our country and the Civil Administration in dealing with incidents arising out of internal security, natural and manmade calamities, communal disharmony and welfare activities,” he said.  

Expressing happiness that the Government of Nagaland has enhanced the honorarium of Home Guards from Rs. 150/- per day to Rs. 520/- per day, the Governor hoped that this will propel and strengthen the Home Guards personnel’s family and economic life.  

Acharya was confident that the organization will continue its journey towards excellence and hoped that it will continue its selfless service in safeguarding the civilian lives and properties in the state with more enthusiasm and perseverance.  

While extending greetings to all officers, rank and file of the organization, he further called upon the Civil Defence and Home Guards personnel to remain committed to the cause and to give their best to the people, state and the country.  

In a separate message, Chief Minister TR Zeliang extended warmest greetings to the officers and all ranks of Nagaland CD&HG.  

Originally raised as a subsidiary force for aiding the State Police and Civil Administration in maintenance of law and order, the role and responsibilities of Civil Defence and Home Guards over the years have grown hugely, he stated. Today, in addition to its primary role as a reserve force, it forms part of the dedicated State Disaster Response Force and is one of the first response teams in attending to natural and manmade calamities and other emergencies, the CM added.  

Zeliang expressed confidence that with the recent enhancement of their daily allowance, the CD&HG personnel will continue to work with renewed dedication and right motivation.
