Inspects Akash Bridge- Kanjang road construction at Meluri
Meluri, November 22 (MExN): Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton on Monday inspected the Akash Bridge- Kanjang road under Meluri sub-division in Phek district.
During the visit, Patton who is also the in-charge of PWD (Road and Bridges) directed the department and the contractor to complete the project by March 2022 while also stating that he would come for the inauguration of the road, according to a statement from the Dy CMO’s Media Cell.
According to the press release, Patton informed that 563 km of roads were earmarked for construction in the state for all the assembly constituencies under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY). However, the ongoing projects have to be completed before March 2022 for new projects to get sanctioned as per the Ministry’s instruction to the state and the department, he underlined.
He urged the contractor to put in more workforce as well as machineries while also instructing the department officials to supervise the same so that it is completed within the stipulated time frame.
Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) Akash Bridge- Kanjang road is being executed by M/s Nagaland Steel Engineering.
The Dy CM also stressed on the need to improve the state’s performance index in the country, the release stated.
He informed that a notification has also been issued that a signboard would be put up with the name of contractors/ firms constructing the road and the engineer supervising the same, so as to ensure quality workmanship. While emphasing that the quality of work in the state needs improvement, Patton said that contractors who fail to ensure the quality and specification of the work and timely completion would be blacklisted.
The release stated that Patton also acknowledged the citizens of the area stating, “There is no issue on landownership for the execution of the project unlike other places,” and also appreciated their cooperation towards the project. The inspection is being conducted in the ongoing projects so as to ensure timely completion of the projects, he added.
Local MLA, Yitachu acknowledged the Dy Chief Minister and his entourage from the department for showing concern and reaching out to the corner of the state, the release stated.
The Dy CM was accompanied by Minister for Soil and Water Conservation, Geology and Mining, and NSMDC, V Kashiho Sangtam, MLA Yitachu, Principal Secretary of Works and Housing Menukhol John Engineer in Chief of PWD Limanaro, Chief Engineer PWD (R&B) Kahuli and other officials along with Superintendent of Police (SP) Phek, Vesupra Kezo, ADC Meluri and a host of public leaders of the area.
