Creative writing workshop for Naga Languages at NU from October 28-30

KOHIMA, October 10 (MExN): The Sahitya Akademi (National Academy of Letters), New Delhi, collaboration with the Department of Tenyidie, Nagaland University, Kohima Campus, Mereima will be organizing a three-day creative writing workshop from October 28-30, 2021 at Nagaland University, Kohima Campus, Mereima.

Resource persons for the workshop will include Easterine Kire, Mamang Dai, Theyiesinuo Keditsu, Madhu Raghavendra, Neikehienuo Mepfhuo, Sentilong Ozukum, Avinuo Kire, Beni Yanthan and Duovituo Kuolie.

The workshop is an attempt to promote and look at the various aspects of creative writing- poetry, prose and drama in the context of the native language writings in Nagaland and the North East. In its concept note, it also stated that Nagaland has a number of writers and poets as well as publication houses today and it has become very important to help hone the talents and skills of those who are engaged in the creative process so that they can take their stand even nationally and internationally.

“An exposure to those who work in this area, specially novelists and playwrights, who can help and address these issues, is the need of the hour. Literature is a pre-requisite for any language development and therefore inciting young minds to creative writing in their language will contribute immensely to the maintenance, sustenance and development of the Naga languages. This will not only ensure that the quality of the writing (in English) evolves, but even regional language writers will be encouraged”, it said.

With a capacity of 30 people for the workshop, a registration fee of Rs 200/- will be realised (spot payment).
