DDLSA ‘connecting to serve’ campaign begins November 9

Dimapur, November 8 (MExN): The Dimapur District Legal Services Authority (DDLSA) celebrated the 23rd National Legal Services Authority (NLSA) Day with a campaign titled ‘Connecting to serve’.  

The ten-day campaign scheduled from November 9 to 18, aims to make public aware about the various functions and activities of Legal Services Authorities and availability of free legal services so that weaker and marginalized sections of society are made aware, and service is delivered to them.  

During the campaign, DDLSA will conduct various activities like putting up hoardings in public places which are already set up in various locations in and around Dimapur Town, awareness camps in rural and remote areas, awareness in prisons etc, informed a press release from DDLSA.  

It was informed that DDLSA under the NALSA motto ‘Access to justice for all’ in a span of one year has provided free legal assistance to more than 200 people who are under the category of weaker sections of society. 94 cases have been taken up by Panel Lawyers of DDLSA from January, 2017 till date.  

Legal awareness programmes were conducted in various urban and rural areas, schools and colleges, prisons, churches etc within the year thereby sensitising more than a thousand citizens residing in and around Dimapur Town, it added.
