Dimapur Police make arrests; seize liquor, ganja

Dimapur, April 13 (MExN): Dimapur Police seized around 250 kg of ganja found concealed inside a truck on April 11. The vehicle was trying to enter Dimapur along with other vehicle convoy before it was intercepted at the Chumukedima Checkgate, informed a release from PRO, Dimapur Police. Five persons have been arrested in the follow up investigations. They have been identified as Pfokreni Mao, Raj Kumar, Elo, Pakha Mao, and Henea. Further investigation is underway at the Diphupar Police Station, the release added.   In another incident on April 11, four Inner Line Permit defaulters were detained at Chumukedima Checkgate and prosecuted for non-possession of valid documents, the PRO said.

  In the last fortnight, Dimapur Police have also arrested three persons on charges of extortion. On April 5, one Sajuddin was arrested when he was serving a business establishment with a demand of Rs 10,000 as Annual Tax on behalf of the NSCN (IM). Further, on April 9, one Rajuddin was arrested while collecting Tax from trucks carrying sands. One Tokaho Chophy was also arrested on April 9 while “extorting” money from trucks in the name of GPRN/NSCN, it added.   Dimapur Police have also registered 8 cases under the NLTP Act and arrested 10 persons. On April 1, three persons identified as Toli Yepthomi, Nikuto Swu and Kughavi Yepthomi were arrested from Unity Colony, 5th Mile. 133 bottles/cans of assorted IMFL were seized from their possession. One Gudu Anasari was arrested while transporting 39 cases of assorted IMFL concealed on April 2. The same day, another person identified as Surjit Das was arrested from a shop near City Tower and 85 bottles/cans of IMFL seized. On April 4, one Isato was arrested from Model Village, 7th Mile and 145 bottles/cans of assorted IMFL seized from his possession. On April 10, Vikram Ronpi was arrested from Apoon Bill Restaurant and 40 bottles/cans of assorted IMFL seized. One Anil Sohoria was arrested from 4th Mile area and 114 bottles/ cans of assorted IMFL seized from him the same day. Meanwhile, on April 11, one Vijay Sharma was arrested from Kalibari Road with 125 bottles/ cans of assorted IMFL. One Yetoi Sumi was arrested and 17 cases of IMFL seized from his possession on April 12.     Body recovered One unidentified dead body of a Non-Naga male aged around 45 years was found at the Rail Bazaar on April 13. PRO, Dimapur Police informed that he was found wearing a brown pant and white shirt and suspected to have died of illness.
