Dimapur to continue ‘Odd-Even’ traffic rule till Sept 30

Dimapur, September 1 (MExN): In the interest of public safety during the prevailing COVID-19 pandemic, the Commissioner of Police, Dimapur Rothihu Tetseo, IPS has issued an order for non-essential vehicular movement within Dimapur town and NH-29 till Chümoukedima town with effect from September 2 till 30.

Odd number day: On every Monday, Wednesday and Friday only vehicle with registration number ending with odd numbers (eg, 1, 3, 5, 7 & 9) will be allowed to ply.

Even number day: On every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday only vehicles with registration number ending with even numbers (eg, 2, 4, 6, 8 & 0) will be allowed to ply.

This restriction will not be enforced on Sundays.

The category under essential services as notified earlier will be exempted. Further, Government servants on bonafide government duties and vehicles involved in providing essential services/involved in COVI-19 related duties will also be exempted from the purview of this restriction on production of relevant documents and valid ID proof. Two wheelers shall also be exempted from this traffic restriction.

All heavy vehicles, except those engaged in the four lane construction work with valid permit will be restricted from plying within the town area and highway area from 09:00 am to 2:00 pm.

The CP Dimapur also stated that “violation of the aforementioned order will be penalized U/S 177 and 179 of the MV Act 1988. Therefore, it is appealed to all citizens for cooperation in the interest of public safety.”
