Tuensang, August 2 (MExN): Sao Chang Government College, Tuensang organized a disaster management mock drill on August 1 at the College campus in collaboration with the office of the Deputy Controller, Civil Defence& District Commandant, Home Guard, Tuensang.
Experts from CD&HG Tuensang imparted the basic knowledge on disaster management techniques and rescue methods to the students, teaching faculty and the non-teaching staffs. During the demonstration, the experts displayed how to respond and rescue in the event of any natural calamity like earthquake.
Artificial mock earthquake scene was arranged and students along with the teachers were divided into groups and were made to sit in the class rooms, and the siren was played to indicate that there is earthquake in the college, where the students, teachers and the ministerial staffs were made to come out of the classrooms and office compartments to the safe zone in the compound.
Basic knowledge on emergency fire dousing technique demonstration was also displayed, where, fire extinguishers of various types for different type and nature of fire outbreak was shown to the students, teachers and other staffs.
In this regard, the college authority in a press release issued by its Principal, Chubasangla acknowledged the office of the Deputy Controller, Civil Defence& District Commandant, Home Guard, Tuensang for imparting the most need basic knowledge on disaster handling methods and techniques of how to save lives and to be fully aware in the event of any calamity so that the casualties can be avoided and minimize.
