Do you agree that the system of governance in Nagaland needs rebuilding to bring transformation? Give reasons

Some of those who voted YES had this to say:
•    System has to be reviewed for the welfare of the people, and the transparency should be there.

•    If people open their eyes, they would see, starting from the smallest levels, village to church to organizations to the government, everything needs to change.

•    Yes, it needs serious rebuilding and retransformation otherwise we Nagas as a people will be stuck in the muck while the world moves on, the old generation both overground, underground and the state Governing mechanism have completely failed its people and people have also contributed to it. What does the future look like for the young Nagas the incoming generation? Enough is enough, tribalism is killing us, corruption is destroying us, favouritism is blocking many individual growths. Nagas as a society and people have not seen a healthy growth environment, leaving aside some few people on whom the burden falls heavy, Nagas as a people should start developing our mental, emotional, spiritual (Not religious please, we don’t want Naga Jihadist), technical, scientific, intellectual capabilities, enough of depending on Delhi Sarkar for our corrupted and dependent lifestyle for the last sixty years! We have spoilt ourselves so much with money that 'Dignity of labour' has become a shame for us an almost no-existent! Can the Government say sorry for all the wrongs it has heaped directly or indirectly at its people it decided to take on when the state was given? Can the freedom fighters really fight and stand for the Naga people and stop the freedom to extort from the people who are at the receiving end of everything? Can the church not just preach the good gospel but say what are true, alcoholism, spiritual decline, teenage pregnancy, broken families and scores of addiction. If Nagaland is really a Christian state and a state with a government, we have become a JOKE! And the joke is on us Nagas. Let us stop our old ways of doing things, keep the good practices. Nagas will have to move forward or we go backward together and the world will move on or without us. We need change. Who is ready to change?

•    The public should bring more effective tool in curbing the negative machinery to check on Govt.

Some of those who voted NO had this to say:
•    The system seems to be fine but  the mind set to buy and sale vote, not thinking about common good and only on one’s own selfish interest; it is  this that needs change.

Some of those who voted OTHERS had this to say:
•    Let us first look at the definitions of the key terms that this poll has brought forth. Governance comprises all of the processes of governing – whether undertaken by the government of a state, by a market, or by a network – over a social system (family, tribe, formal or informal organization, a territory or across territories) and whether through the laws, norms, power or language of an organized society. Rebuilding can be said to be to build something again, although it has varied definitions depending on the context. A transformation is a dramatic change in form or appearance. It is an extreme, radical change. If what has been legislated in Nagaland over the years by the state worked and has taken the state towards the path of societal growth and if those legislations has served their purposes over time, rebuilding is not a cosmetic electoral gimmick, but a systematic need for sustaining an established societal growth. Now, if those legislations have not worked, rebuilding, rather than starting anew, will only be a cosmetic application thereby increasing redundant legislations. If those legislations did not work, minority of the cause is the government, and all its agencies that it has put in place to implement all those legislations, that has failed in its services delivery. The public is the majority stakeholder that allowed governments over the years to exist through universal suffrage and as such it is the public that has failed to grow to seek for societal growth. If and when the masses become aware of societal requirement towards a sensible life on earth as a social being, governments have the obligations as an elected body to seek and achieve the aspirations of the masses that entrust them with the responsibility. If masses are lacking in the awareness aspect on societal growth, leadership roles has also been lacking to encourage the masses to seek for societal growth. Both ends of the spectrum has been found wanting here in Nagaland and as such, until one or both takes birth, we will continue to have these questions.

•    Need to improve the educational system and food habits.
