Some of those who voted YES had this to say:

•    Yes, only through genuine repentance. I believe that Nagas can overcome the culture of consumerism and materialism through repentance and we must change our life style. We need to mend our broken relationship with God.

•    Yes. When resources are depleted, consumerism and materialism will be overcome.

•    Yes, if we resolve to change our attitude and imbibe strong will power and strong faith in GOD.

Some of those who voted NO had this to say:

•    NO. Much of the crisis we Nagas are going through now is because of greed for power and lust for money. It is sad that a Christian state like ours has fallen to the temptation of worldly pleasures.

•    No. Human greed is like cancer. We can never do away with it.

•    No. We the Nagas as people will have to overlook our past belief, systems, and step ahead to embrace the changing times with a new set of thinking. Unless we all collectively think for the benefit of others, consumerism and materialism will be our worst models. Currently the Naga state of art is in the above 2 models and unless something changes we are doomed for the future and you and I are a part of it.

•    No. Tech saavy Nagas yield to consumerism and materialism.

•    No. Selfish

•    No. Because our moral is degrading and our wants and lifestyle are increasing as we get more education and advancement in technology. But with good moral ethics I believe we can overcome consumerism and materialism.

•    No. Cannot put the genie back in the bottle and social media makes it difficult to not keep up with the Joneses

Some of those who voted OTHERS had this to say:

•    It is quite ironic. Whenever the MEx has posed poll questions regarding our own weakness and shortcoming, we do not see much response on the Mex Facebook. But when there is any question enquiring about some others shortcoming, we see many comments. This itself proves that we have fallen to materialism and consumerism.

•    I think the Indian leaders were right in their assessment that the Nagas can only be defeated by money, not guns. We see our leaders falling to corruption. Our values have been dumped and our temptation for money and materialism is known to everyone now. It is pathetic.
