‘Don’t make NHM a political platform’

DIMAPUR, JULY 19 (MExN): The National Health Mission Employees Association Nagaland (NEAN) today asked the concerned authority not to make the National Health Mission (NHM) programme a political agenda or platform.

“NHM is the heart of the department (H&FW) and is being implemented on a mission mode. Each activity & programme under the NHM is target based and has a timeline which invites disincentives from the Government of India, if not implemented and completed on time (Monthly, Quarterly & Yearly),” stated a press release from the NEAN Vice President, Dr Avika P Jimo and General Secretary, Kewetso Kenye.

The NEAN said that frequent and untimely transfers and deployments hamper the programme intricately. In addition, a delay of all round implementation is quite vivid due to such situation, it pointed out, adding that one classic example at hand is the delay in releases of funds; even the basic employee’s salary (3 months i.e. April –June 2019).

The NEAN therefore appealed to the authority to take note of such complications and hardships being brought into the programme due to hasty political decisions. The association urged that the concerned authority resolve the issue at the earliest for the smooth functioning of the programme.

“The concerns raised here are purely based on the interest and welfare of the programme and does not have any personal vested interest, whatsoever,” it meanwhile added.
