DoPN Dimapur Division urges prudent usage of electricity

Dimapur, June 3 (MExN): The Dimapur Electrical Division, Department of Power Nagaland (DoPN), today called for judicious use of electricity as power demand surges and issued various Do's and Don'ts advisories.

In the advisory, Executive Engineer (EE) of the Dimapur Electrical Division, Er Y Akito Sema, noted that dependency on electricity is becoming more pronounced in these present days of the fast-paced modern age. However, the gap between demand and supply is ever-growing and is quickly outstripping the capability and capacity of DoPN to deliver the desired level of services due to an acute shortage of power, he said.

The EE further pointed out that the commercial and economic hub of the state, Dimapur, is witnessing rapid urbanization and development, leading to an exponential surge in demand for power. The unprecedented summer heat, as all citizens are witnessing, is only exacerbating the situation by overburdening most of the power assets and infrastructure, he said. Many transformers have been damaged and wires have snapped in the process over the past few days, he added.

Accordingly, to deliver a stable power supply to the citizens of Dimapur, the DoPN urged consumers to adhere to some important Do's and Don'ts including use of high value electrical appliances in phased manner, prevention of power theft and other measures.
