Dr Kire cautions students against becoming ‘Simply Sitting Officer’

Jakhama, October 3 (MExN): The Advisor for Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Dr Nikiesalie Nicky Kire cautioned students not to become an SSO (Simply Sitting Officer), “where such person simply sits and does nothing enjoying the luxury life at the cost of their parent’s earning.” 

Addressing the students at 13th Convergence Fest, an annual management fest organised by Department of Business Administration, St Joseph’s College (Autonomous) Jakhama on September 30, Dr Kire also encouraged them to come up in the field of entrepreneurship and other professions, stated a press release received here. 

Altogether nine colleges from Kohima and Dimapur districts and 11 departments from SJC (A) participated in the Fest which was held under the theme, ‘Limitless Possibilities’ with the tag line, ‘Bringing out the Gems in you.’

A panel discussion was held on the topic ‘Stigma on non-governmental jobs.’ The panelists were Kiviboto Sheqi, Managing Director, Pioneer Institute, Yanpvuo Kikon, Entrepreneur and Consultant, Lichan Humtsoe, Founder and CEO of ETE Coffee and MD Tabrej, Asst. Professor, Dept of Business Administration, SJC (A), Jakhama.

Earlier, Rev Fr Dr George Keduolhou Angami, Principal, SJC (A) Jakhama said the invocation; K Zubemo Humtsoe, Director, Dept of Business Administration, SJC (A) said the welcome address, and Daveilu Pao Convenor gave a brief introduction about the 13th Convergence Fest.

In the second session artist like Peleno Zhasa, KL Pamei, Big Dane and Lapla Chang performed in the concluding session. Tetso College, Dimapur bagged the Overall Champion and Sazolie College, Kohima bagged the Best Disciplined Team.
