Eastern Sümi Hoho reaffirms LS poll boycott

The Eastern Sümi Hoho (ESH) announced a public resolution it adopted on April 8, aligning with the Eastern Naga People’s Organisation’s (ENPO) boycott of the Lok Sabha polls 2024.

The ESH expressed disappointment over the Government of India’s failure to honour the commitments regarding the implementation of the Frontier Nagaland Territory (FNT) and declared its abstention from the upcoming 18th Lok Sabha elections. 

It directed its members, including but not limited to bureaucrats or government employees, from participating in any way in the electoral process, be it reporting for election duties or voting through postal ballot. Violators were warned of significant penalties. 

Political parties were also barred from deploying polling agents to stations is Eastern Sümi region, while it prohibited any form of political campaigning and the use of election paraphernalia such as symbols, flags and banners. 

The directive extended to Eastern Sümi individuals residing outside its jurisdiction, as well.
