A fire broke out at the Nagaland Science Centre in Dimapur, destroying its 3D hall. The incident, which occurred sometime between 10:30 am and 10:40 am is suspected to have been caused by an electrical short circuit.
According to an official from the science centre, which is located behind the Naga Shopping Arcade, there were no casualties as the room was unoccupied at the time. “Fortunately, there was no one present there,” Michael Khuvung, the official said. He said that the fire brigade responded to the incident within minutes of being notified preventing the flames from spreading to other sections of the facility.
While other areas of the science centre remained unaffected, the 3D hall was burnt down. The monetary damage was estimated at Rs 20 lakh. The official also acknowledged the Power Department for their timely intervention.
