Maligaon, August 4 (MExN): Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) on Tuesday announced fresh cancellations, diversions, short terminations and rescheduling of several trains following flood-related damage in Upper Assam and ongoing restoration work in the Lumding-Badarpur Hill Section.
Train services in the Tinsukia Division continue to be affected due to incessant rainfall and flooding at Simaluguri and adjoining areas in Sivasagar district, while restoration work is also underway near New Harangajao station after settlement of railway tracks on Lines 1 and 2.
According to the NFR, engineering teams led by senior railway officials are working round the clock to restore normal train operations in the flood-affected sections.
Four Rajdhani Express services between Dibrugarh and New Delhi (Train Nos. 12423, 12424, 20503 and 20504) have been diverted via Dibrugarh-North Lakhimpur-Rangapara North-Rangiya-Guwahati-Rangiya-New Bongaigaon.
The Dibrugarh-Lalgarh Avadh Assam Express (15909), Dibrugarh-Howrah Kamrup Expresses (15960 and 15946) and the Dibrugarh-Kanniyakumari Vivek Express (22504) have also been diverted via North Lakhimpur and Rangiya.
In the reverse direction, the Howrah-Dibrugarh Kamrup Express (15959) and the Lalgarh-Dibrugarh Avadh Assam Express (15910) will operate on diverted routes.
The Guwahati-Dibrugarh Nagaland Express (15669), commencing its journey on August 4, will terminate at Mariani and remain cancelled between Mariani and Dibrugarh. The return service (15670), scheduled to leave Dibrugarh on August 5, will originate from Mariani, with services between Dibrugarh and Mariani cancelled.
Among the trains cancelled due to flooding are the Jorhat Town-Tinsukia Passenger (55913/55914), Tinsukia-Lumding DEMU (75602/75601), Guwahati-Ledo Intercity Express (15603/15604), Rangiya-New Tinsukia Intercity Express (15927/15928), Ledo-Rangiya Passenger (15968) and the Simaluguri-Dibrugarh Passenger (55909/55910).
Restoration work underway near New Harangajao station
Separately, restoration work is continuing near New Harangajao station, where train operations are being maintained through Line-3 with enhanced safety measures.
In view of the ongoing work, the Guwahati-Dullabcherra Express (15617/15618) and Guwahati-Silchar Express (15615/15616) have been cancelled.
The Narangi-Agartala Express (15650), Agartala-Narangi Express (15649), Guwahati-Sairang Express (15609), Sairang-Guwahati Express (15610), Rangiya-Silchar Express (15611), Silchar-Rangiya Express (15612) and Silchar-Charlapalli Express (15646) have been rescheduled, while the Charlapalli-Agartala Express (17031) will be regulated en route.
NFR advised passengers to check the latest train status before commencing their journeys.
Digital Travel Assistance inaugurated at Guwahati Railway Station
In a separate development, the railway also inaugurated the GoLukBuk Digital Travel Assistance Kiosk Network at Guwahati Railway Station under the New Innovative Non-Fare Revenue Ideas Scheme (NINFRIS).
The facility was inaugurated by NFR General Manager Chetan Kumar Shrivastava in the presence of Principal Chief Commercial Manager Niraj Sahay and other senior officials.
The digital kiosks enable passengers to compare and book hotel accommodation, cab services, food delivery, sleeping pods, meeting pods and other travel-related services through a single interactive platform. Additional kiosks are planned at Kamakhya Railway Station.
The kiosks are also equipped with high-resolution digital display screens and LED hologram fan technology to provide a Digital Out-of-Home (DOOH) advertising platform, while additional services, including quick commerce, are planned in future.
NFR said the project has been launched with an initial one-year licence period, extendable based on performance, and is expected to improve passenger convenience while generating non-fare revenue through technology-driven services.
