Dimapur, July 2 (MExN): Strongly maintaining that “Political science is the father of modern politics and nameplates are the face of political leaders”, the Nagaland unit BJP party has appealed to the State Government of Nagaland to reconsider the ban imposed on the use of nameplates by different political leaders of Nagaland stating that politicians cannot be treated like the “common people.”
According to the BJP party, nameplates used by various political parties which display their status in specific terms, are their respective identities and for this “it is a requirement of the society and the people.” “The use of nameplates by political leaders needs to be viewed in positive perspective by taking into considerations the uncountable positive roles and contributions they are making to the society” an appeal issued by BJP Party Spokesman O Mozamo Ngullie stated.
“Easy recognition of political leaders saves time by avoiding unnecessary hurdles in respect to different security normal activities or during serious law and order situations and in daily activities. Political science is the father of modern politics (Aristotle) and name plates are the face of political leaders” Ngullie asserted.
The Spokesman also strongly maintained that political leaders have time and again controlled social unrests and “public chaos” and have been a deterrent in such instances. “Political leaders have in many instances and occasions averted bloodshed, eruptions of serious social violence by the use of nameplates due to instant recognition of their identity and status in the society, by the public” the BJP stated. “Violent or agitated crowds or peaceful gatherings respond positively when any political leader intervenes and take stock of the situations successfully and this is only possible with the help of the nameplates which provides quicker recognition of the responsibility and status of the leaders” it was asserted.
The party further maintained that politics and political leaders are “permanent factor” in a society and for all intend, similar to the permanency of the bureaucracy and bureaucrats. “Governments and elected members may come and go but political leaders are to stay and their roles and services to the society and nation is a constant process without any period or gap” the party stated. While acknowledging the “inconveniences” of the government “due to stray incidents that might have been committed by imposters or by some unscrupulous individuals”, the BJP maintained that political leaders cannot be treated as common people. Taking these factors in account, the BJP appealed to the government to reconsider the ban and “help the political leaders with suitable alternatives” and at the same time put down stringent rules to penalize those guilty “in wrong use of name plates.”
