Government serious on women welfare and economic uplift: Advisor Yhokha

Nagaland’s Technical Education and Elections Advisor Medo Yhokha today asserted that the state government is seriously concern for the welfare of women and also to promote entrepreneur opportunities for self-sustenance and economic uplift of the state.

He was speaking during the 6th Foundation Day-cum-Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebration of Japfüphi Women Livelihoods and Credit Cooperative Society (JWLCCS) Ltd at CMTC Jakhama town.

The Advisor highlighted some of the initiatives of the state government led by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio including enactment of Securitisation and Reconstruction of Financial Assets and Enforcement of Security Interest Act, 2002 (SARFAESI) with local context, CM Microfinance Initiatives and also the efforts to attract CSR funding as well as holding ‘Education Fest.’

He said that the state government has been holding negotiations with various financial institutions to provide credit facilities to the local entrepreneurs and Self-Help Groups (SHGs).

He said that government jobs in Nagaland have reached a saturation point while the state being a resource crunch state, the government spends more than 70% of the funds received from the Central government on salaries for its employees.

In this, he lauded the efforts of JWLCCS towards women empowerment and livelihood sustenance activities while also passing on the hardworking culture to the youngsters.

Yhokha also assured to extend support to the prospective entrepreneurs and SHGs from the Southern Angami area so as to encourage people to take up self-sustaining activities.

Further, Yhokha also encouraged women to come forward and involve themselves in politics and decision making bodies.

He hoped that JWLCCS would continue to make sincere efforts towards the economic uplift of the women, family and village in the area.

He also appealed to the people to support and cooperate with the government in reaching the policies and programmes, including the Centrally Sponsored Schemes to the genuine beneficiaries.

Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission, Block Mission Management Unit, RD Block Jakhama, Block Program Manager Vitsituo Mepfhü-o gave introduction to MCLF.

The programme was chaired by JWLCCS EC member Sebu Luho while JWLCCS president Neilakuonuo Livi delivered welcome address.

The society’s activities were shared by its finance secretary Sevonu Seletsu and an audit report by Manager Khoto Sale.

Sharing of various other initiatives under JWLCCS was done by Neisavino – Bank Sakhi, Viseno – Community Service Provider (CSP) Agri, Medongunu – CSP Livestock, Sevinu – Community Resource Person Enterprise Promotion (CRP EP), Khrieleno – Village Facilitator and Khriethokevi Village Level Organisation Kigwema village.
