Half Marathon marks SVEEP Campaign at Pughoboto

Pughoboto, July 16 (DIPR): ADC & DEO Pughoboto organised systematic Voters Education and Electoral participation (SVEEP) Campaign with the theme ‘One Man, One Vote’ at Pughoboto town on July 15.  

District Icon, Khaheli who was the special guest, flagged off the Half Marathon race which was participated by both men and women. The race was categorized into five group viz senior and junior men and women including the Sub-Jr. Race which started at town hall area up to the Laza point and culminated at the town hall.  

Addressing the gathering, District Icon said that people need to make a vow to themselves that they will follow true principles and create awareness to the society for change. Adding that ‘change starts happening only when we start inculcating the right perspective’ she informed that every adult who has attained 18 years of age has been provided an opportunity to select their leader through voting. She mentioned that clean election campaign aims to safeguard and nurture democracy by educating voters about issues of corruption.  

Second women to represent Nagaland in Femina Miss India 2017, first runners up Ponds Eclectic model Hunt 2015 and First runners up Miss Sumi, Kakheli Chopy also gave away cash awards to the winners of the marathon race. Others officials who gave away the prize included ADC, Pughoboto, PATC chairman Viyikhu Q. Wotsa etc.  

To ensure clean election in the state, Oriental Theological Seminary students presented special song “Raise up Oh Nagaland and fight the corruption.” They also displayed a skit relating how the leaders, voters are capturing and casting their valuable votes that need to be pondered upon and choose their visionary leaders for the development without involving muscles, guns, money powers, service appointment and others.
