DIMAPUR, APRIL 6 (MExN): A total of 1325383 electors, which includes 656729 males and 660807 females, is expected to exercise their franchise at the upcoming general election to the Lok Sabha from 1-Nagaland Parliamentary Constituency, 2024 come April 19.
According to the fact sheet issued by the Chief Election Office (CEO), Kohima, of the 16 districts, Mon district has the highest number of electors at 158075 followed by Mokokchung at 154862, Kohima at 122416 and Dimapur 122283. Pughoboto district has the lowest electors at 15912.

Out of the 60 Assembly Constituencies (59 under ST and 1 under General), Mokokchung has the highest with 10 A/Cs followed by Mon at 9, Kohima 6, Zunheboto 6, Phek 5, Tuensang 4, Wokha 4, Dimapur 3, Peren 2, Kiphire 2, Noklak 2, Longleng 2 and Chümoukedima 2. The districts of Tseminynu, Shamator and Pughoboto have only 1 A/C each.
The six districts of Eastern Nagaland namely Mon, Longleng, Tuensang, Kiphire, Noklak and Shamator which falls under Eastern Nagaland People’s organization (ENPO) comprises of 400,632 electors which is 30.24% of the total electors from Nagaland. The remaining 10 districts comprises of 924751 electors.
With regard to age group of electors, Phek and Mokokchung districts has the highest number in the age group of 18-19 years with the figure at 2178 and 2016 respectively. At 1082, Mon district has the highest number of electors in the age group of 85 and above which is followed by Wokha district at 848.
A total of 14052 polling personnel along with 9500 vehicles will be deployed on poll day to 2342 polling stations spread across 2210 locations with 1802 in the rural and 540 in urban. Mon with 266 polling stations is the highest followed by Mokokchung with 239 and Wokha with 215 polling stations. Pughoboto district has the lowest polling stations at only 34.
The CEO fact sheet also informed that during 2019 state assembly election, there were a total of 1202307 electors (606173 male and 596134 females), while during the 2023 election, there were 1309651 electors (653616 males and 656035 females). When compared to 2019, there has been as increase of 115229 electors and 7885 electors as against 2023 election.
Three candidates namely Dr Chumbem Murry, NDPP candidate, Supongmeren Jamir from the Congress and Dr Hayithung Bill Lotha from Independent is vying for the lone Lok Sabha seat from Nagaland.
