AKM condemns discrimination against NE people

MOKOKCHUNG, MARCH 31 (MExN): The Ao Kaketshir Mungdang (AKM) has expressed concern at the incidents of discrimination faced by people of the North East in different cities of the country.

“Such racism reflects the general ignorance of the people in understanding that the NE region is an integral part of India,” a press release from the AKM stated.

It informed that a number of health care givers from the region are serving in various hospitals in India trying to fight this dreadful pandemic and saving lives.

“We, in different states of the North East region, are putting all-out effort to ensure that migrants from different states of India are safe and, likewise, we urge the people in the other cities of India to reciprocate and take care of the people from the North East region,” it appealed.

The AKM asserted that “we all need to stand together and fight the challenges posed by COVID-19 pandemic.” Racism or discrimination against people from the North East region will not bring any healing or solution, it said.
