MP Kenye urges PM to set up test lab in Nagaland

DIMAPUR, MARCH 31 (MExN): Nagaland MP to the Rajya Sabha, KG Kenye has appealed to Prime Minister, Narendra Modi to arrange for the air lift of a portable/mobile Viral Diagnostic Laboratory (VRDL) to be installed in Nagaland at the earliest.


In a letter to the PM, Kenye said that Nagaland still does not have a testing Laboratory for detection of the COVID-19 virus till date.


The MP further appealed to the PM to expedite the sanction for the construction of a permanent Viral Diagnostic Laboratory, with the help of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.


Meanwhile, a press release from the PRO to the MP informed that Kenye had on March 28 written a letter of consent to the Ministry of Statistics & Project Implementation (MOSP) for release of Rs 2 Crore from MPLADS during the Financial Year 2020-2021 to be utilised by Nagaland State COVID-19 Task Force. The MP also contributed his one month salary of Rs 1 lakh towards the PM-National Relief Fund.
