Indigenous rural tech on display at NTTC Dimapur

DIMAPUR, NOVEMBER 21 (MExN): An exhibition on indigenously developed rural technology is being organized by the Nagaland Tool Room & Training Centre, Dimapur (NTTC), at its campus, New Industrial Estate, from November 15 to 27. 

Agriculture Production Commissioner, Y Kikheto Sema, IAS, graced the inaugural programme as a Special Guest. Also present at the event were Taliwati Longchar, IEDS, Jt. Director & HoD, MSME Development Institute, Dimapur; Sunita Rai Bharali, Asst. General Manager, APEDA, Guwahati; Dr Ng Iboyaima Singh, Chief Scientist, CSIR-CFTRI, Mysuru and various renown government officials, dignitaries, entrepreneurs, innovators, farmers and  students from across the State. 

The opening day of the exhibition was marked by demonstration of various agro-based machinery, developed and manufactured at NTTC, Dimapur. A total of 32 different types of rural technologies were displayed and demonstrated at the event. 

Er Petehetuo Miasalhou, Principal of NTTC, during the product demonstration, explained the uses and the benefits of technological intervention and how it  will boost the  long-established generational agricultural practices and  farming techniques to the farmers and youths in particular.

NTTC, extending its technical support /consultancy to public also informed that the Rural Technology and Incubation Centre is open to farmers, entrepreneurs, youths in particular for the entire month of November 2021.

The categories of rural technology displayed under Agri and Allied Machinery & Tools includes Banana Fiber Extractor, Pineapple Leaf Fiber Extractor, Pedal Operated Paddy Thresher, Areca Leaf Plate Making Machine, Areca Leaf Cup Making Machine, Wood & Bamboo Chipping Machine, Solar Lawn Grass Trimmer, and Seedling Gun.

Machines displayed under Animal Feed Processing Machinery includes Electric Feed Pellet Mill, Corn Sheller, Corn Mill, Chaff Cutter,  Foddorizer, Fodder Cutting Machine,   and Vegetable Crusher cum Slicer.

Also on display were Post Harvest Management Dryers and Dehydrators. They include Smokefree Meat Dryer, Solar Dryer, Vegetable and Fruits Dehydrator, Arecanut Peeling Machine, and Tapioca Slicer.

The NTTC has also manufactured various numbers of machines, with the aim to convert waste products into usable and valuable items relating to plastics. They include Plastic Shredder, Plastic Crusher, Chips Cleaning Machine, and Plastic sheet Moulding Machine. In addition to this it has also developed a Hollow Block making machine (with feeder).
