DIMAPUR, MAY 2 (MExN): The Joint Coordination Committee of Villages (JCCV), Dhansiripar locked down government offices based in Dhansiripar in protest of the merger of 50 villages into Chümoukedima district. 

A press release from the JCCV informed that more than 250 leaders from 50 odd villages locked down the SDO (Civil) office. The JCCV further resolved to impose a bandh on vehicular movement and schools in the sub division after the expiry of 48 hours if the government fails to initiate the process for resolution of the impasse. 

“The JCCV tried its best to avoid the extreme steps of agitation but is bound to resort to these steps for the larger interest of the people against government indifference,” it added. Meanwhile, the Chümoukedima DC called the JCCV for a meeting on May 2 afternoon and a discussion was held to explores possibilities to solve the impasse amicably.
