Kohima to host 1st Nagaland Film Festival

Kohima, May 9 (DIPR): The 1st Nagaland Film Festival will be held on May 11 at Capital Convention Centre, Kohima. Parliamentary Secretary for Information & Public Relations, Nagaland, Imtikumzuk will inaugurate the event as the chief guest at 10 a.m.  

Organised by the Department of IPR, Nagaland in collaboration with Dimapur based theatre group Dreamz Unlimited, the event is being organized by the state government to promote the works of local filmmakers, while also bringing the film fraternity under a common platform to share and deliberate on films scenario in the state.  

The inaugural programme will begin at 10:00 am where welcome address will be delivered by Director, IPR, Limawati Ao followed by speech from the chief guest. Invocation will be said by Pastor, Powercomm Kohima, Jonathan Mesen.  

The film screenings will start with the feature film “Onaatah”, directed by Pradip Kurbah. Besides the documentary “Oh my soul” by Kivini Shohe, short films to be screened include “The story of a river” by Yapangnaro Longkumer, “Story of a house” by Sesino Yhoshü and Sophy Lasuh, “Backward is forward” by Vito Sumi and “Blissful” by Bendang Walling, besides the two best films of the Amateur Short Film Competition.  

The programme will also include “Discussion Hour” where Consultant from Film Facilitation Office, National Film Development Corporation, Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, New Delhi, Leena Rani Narzary will highlight the activities of the FFO, NFDC to the participants.  

DIPR, Nagaland has invited the film fraternity, media persons, students, officials and interested individuals to come and witness the Film Festival.
