The Ceasefire Supervisory Board which visited versatile Athibung town today has reportedly urged upon the public to voice against the presence of armed cadres in the civilian areas so as to prevent any disturbance arising out of the factional feuds between the two NSCNs groups.
Lt. Gen. Kulkarni, Chairman, Ceasefire Supervisory Board who led the three member team asked the public to inform the CFSB if the uniformed cadres of the NSCNs are seen moving around in the public with arms. He asserted that the government would deal as per the ceasefire ground rules if armed cadres are found violating the ground rules.
However, Kulkarni is reported to have admitted the practical difficulties involved in maintaining peace because of the presence of different underground groups in the area.
Kulkarni also cited the instance of Zunheboto, where factional clashes between the two NSCNs factions were brought down by public pressure, and told the people to adopt similar tactics to contain factional feuds in public places.
Sources said that normal life of the public in Athibung has been completely affected by the frequent factional feuds between the two NSCN warring groups in the civilian inhabited areas. Public of Athibung has been reeling under tense and difficult situations since the factional clashes started in the Athibung, sources added.
The team, which also visited Mon on Saturday last comprises of Lt. Gen. (Rtd) RV Kulkarni, Ceasefire Monitoring Group, DGP J Changkija, and Dy. IGAR Brig. Brigpal Singh. This is the second time the ceasefire Monitoring Group Chairman is visiting the trouble-torn Athibung town.
