Demonstration on nursery bed preparation, seed selection and sowing conducted in the Self-Help Group’s garden.
Peren, February 10 (MExN): A two-day training programme on ‘nursery management and seedlings production’ was organised by ICAR-Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Peren at Mhainamtsi village VLO office with Dr Patu K Zeliang, ACTO, PBG, KVK Peren as training coordinator.
The programme sponsored under NEH programme of IIHR (Indian Institute of Horticultural Research) Bangaluru in collaboration with Nagaland State Rural Livelihood Mission (NSRLM) Jalukie Block was held on February 8 and 9.
Day 1 of the training covered topics such as nursery site selection, layout, bed preparation, characteristics and selection of good seeds, methods of sowing, management of pest and diseases and care & transplantation to field. On day 2, a demonstration on nursery bed preparation, seed selection and sowing were conducted in one of the Self-Help Group’s garden.
During the valedictory programme, Dzüthovi Kapfo DFS (LDS farm) and Francis Amua BPM Jalukie Block emphasized the goal of NSRLM to let every SHG member have an Agri Nutri garden and pointed out the importance of the consumption of organic vegetables and reassured KVK that, follow-up on the Nutri gardens will be done.
The farmers were mobilised by Reluibamle, Area Coordinator from Mhainamtsi, New Jalukie and Nkwareu village. Inputs like vegetable seeds of various types and varieties including gardening tools, shadenets, plant protection chemicals were distributed to the farm women. All together 25 participants attended the programme.
