Leadership tussle in GPRN/NSCN takes new turn

Dimapur, May 22 (MExN): The leadership tussle in the GPRN/NSCN took another turn as Alezo Venuh, who was recently elected as the Ato Kilonser replacing N Kitovi Zhimomi, has reportedly been dislodged by the latter.

As per a ‘Termination Order,’ believed to have been issued by Zhimomi, Venuh’s membership has been terminated. Conspiracy to engineer a coup against the GPRN/NSCN leadership was the charge against Venuh.

The termination order, dated May 21, also named the GPRN/NSCN army chief, General Samson Aye as co-conspirator, whose membership was also terminated. Aye was charged of misusing his power while engineering two coup bids, the first on May 11, 2022 and the second on April 21, 2024.

“As per the provision laid down in the party discipline Section-A (clause2 & 9), Section-C (clause 4), Section D (clause-2) hereby terminate the above members from the active party membership (NSCN) on this day the 21st of May 2024. This order comes into immediate effect on the day of issue of this order,” stated the termination order.

The May 21 order issued by Zhimomi was preceded by an “Expulsion Order” allegedly issued by Gen (retired) MB Neokpao Konyak, the President/Chairman of the GPRN/NSCN on May 15. It charged Zhimomi of maligning the image of the organisation by engaging in activities against the ‘Yehzabo’ and taking personal credit for achievements after he was impeached and expelled, while misusing the organisation’s personnel and machinery “for his selfish motive.”

“On the above grounds and circumstances, Mr N Kitovi Zhimomi is hereby expelled from both primary and active membership of the GPRN/NSCN,” the order purportedly issued by Neokpao said.
